Leverage our licensed process knowledge and EPC experience to your advantage and unlock the potential of our world-class materials engineering services, featuring cutting-edge technology to bring you cost efficiencies. Our risk-based inspection (RBI), corrosion under insulation (CUI), and lifetime evaluations are designed to give you detailed, inside-out insights.
Our Service
RBI helps to reduce maintenance costs by identification of applicable degredation mechanism.
Benefits:
- Avoid unplanned plant downtime
- Tailored inspection and maintenance programs for high-cost efficiency
- Unnecessary inspections and maintenance can be avoided in order to reduce costs
Our Experience
Linde Engineering is a licensor of various processes such as steam reformer, steam crackers, natural gas plants, adsorption plants, air separation plants and others. The know-how gained over decades of engineering and designing of these plants is also applied to prepare for Risk-based Inspection (RBI) already during the front-end engineering design-phase. This involves creating documents such as material selection reports, corrosion control documents that feed into risk-based inspection databases.
Our Service
80% of the failures observed during operation of chemical plants can be derived to insufficient consideration of corrosion under insulation.
Benefits:
- Risk analysis to identify scope of CUI method selection to reduce scope of inspection
- Adequate selection of integrated system consisting of Insulation, Coatings and passive fire protection (PFP)
- QA/QC during installation of insulation and application of coatings and PFP - Maintenance and Inspection (e.g. RBI)
Our Experience
Linde Engineering regularly specifies and applies insulation materials, anti-corrosion coatings and passive fire protection in worldclass EPC projects. With this process-specific expertise, Linde is also experienced in selecting appropriate inspection methods to identify CUI and can provide assistance in determining remedial actions such as repair work, selection of state-of-the-art coating systems and a suitable insulation system that meets expected service life
Severely corroded piping nozzle and valve
Changes in microstructure caused by creep
Our Service
With the help of our Lifetime Prediction Model we can prevent unplanned shut-downs of Steam Methane Reformer (SMR). A 3D creep model is used to create this evaluation, and to assess a lifetime for examples for reformer tubes or any equipment in creep/high temperature service.
Benefits:
- Model can calculate deformation on inner and outer diameter
- Model can be used in a digital twin of the reformer
- Prediction in stage III of creep curve more precise (see model to the right)
Our Experience
Reformer tubes are typically designed for 100,000 h, or ~11 years, but are usually operated beyond their design life. This can only be done safely if the condition of the tubes is thoroughly evaluated on a regular basis by inspection and review of the operating history. Linde Engineering uses the know-how it has acquired in this field over many years to support its customers in assessing the remaining lifetime and, if necessary, to convince the relevant authorities.
Module 1:
Overview of degradation Mechnisims relevant for particular plant (similiar to Material Philosophy as in Design Phase)
Module 2:
Detailed overview of applicable degradation mechanisms including first recommendations regarding inspection and maintenance.
Module 3:
Specific recommendation regarding remaining lifetime, inspection and maintenance, repairs etc.
